Why AI scares you... Companies should be scared
I see fear, Since AI products appeared, I have seen a lot of discussion among developers: “What if I am not needed anymore!!”.
The main reason for this fear comes from
“ IF one day AI can do my job then I am not needed anymore and it is very ‘profitable for current companies’ because instead of running a company with thousands of Engieeners you can run a company with AI and probably few employees.“
Nah, nah it sounds very good tweet but Ladies and Gentimelens when we come to real life unfortunelty thinking like tweeting does not work.
Why?
Let’s consider company ABC, which has a product aimed at banks with hundreds of customers.
ABC is 20 years old. It wasn’t easy to bring the product to the current level.
Suffering 20 years….
Hiring thousands of employees, Valuable hundreds of employees who left, , Creating complex software making thousands of mistakes, hiring mistakes, deployments, buggy codes, documentation, development, long resourcing, and learning process, Painful Recruiters process, left engineers, finding quality sassy engineers and countless human processes, pain, cost, pain, more pain, cost. painnnnn

So what happened after the above suffered, ABC came from level 0 to 80 after 20 years, spent billions of dollars with thousands of Engineers, and so on,
Now let’s imagine one day we wake up and AI can do 90% of the above human processes, and ABC does not need any more painful processes and sassy Engineers,
So let me ask me to ask you again.
“IF one day AI can do %90 of the above, is it bad for employees or for ABC?”

“What makes ABC valuable ?“ .

The answer is obvious,
“ It takes years of effort and money for ABC to reach level 80, and the things I listed above are coming, since there are very few companies that can do this, ABC is a very valuable company for that reason. Long story short, there are very few companies that can reach the level ABC has reached.and be able to afford such a big cost and take the right steps. ABC is valuable because it is rare“
Let me ask the question again with a slight change.

You see, ABC is not rare anymore.
I can go more deep and explain why ABC will not be rare anymore but I think this part is for you to think more about that and do brain exercises. A chaos is approaching ABC. Thousands of competitors may arise. Because with AI it is easier to build a software product, there no need for that chaos as before
I am sure millions of times you have found brilliant ideas but when you want to implement that idea you founded cost and you haven’t started that idea as a poor guy. But with IA now you can reduce costs like crazy. Maybe if you had a chance to find another Developer like you you would be able to build your empire.
So Okay, Okay Yusuf, what is the consequences? What expect us as Software Engineers if one day AI replaces Engineers, good days, bad days ? ???
I DON’T KNOW AND NOBODY CAN KNOW,
After the French Revolution, even those who made the revolution were not happy. If one day a machine can do the job(doesn’t matter which job) of a human being as a self-driving driver, it will be a much bigger revolution than the French Revolution.

And no one knows what will happen in that chaotic environment.
